Veteran’s Day 2019

November 11, 2019 Grandma and I walked in the Veteran’s Day Parade for you today my Amazing Aaron. I met Bill – he is a Vietnam Vet that travels around the country in his corvette that has paintings of the Vietnam Veteran’s Wall, Never Forget and Women Veteran’s Memorial – it is beautiful, He makes sure that people remember. You would have loved him – I told him how much you would have enjoyed talking to him and how your mentor was a Vietnam Vet. When it was time to walk I cried – it surprised me… I am not sure why it surprised me. I cry about most things now. Maybe it was because it was the first time I had participated in the parade or maybe it was because I had the memories of you walking in the parade with the JROTC in 2014. You were always so serious – walking tall and proud (of course you are supposed to be serious). I loved watching you march past us and knew how much you loved being a part of the JROTC. I had a woman walk up to me and shake my hand while saying thank you. As we walked I could hear people yelling thank you. It made me think of when you came home from basic training and people came up to you to thank you for your service. After they walked away – you would say “but mom I haven’t done anything yet”. The thing is my beautiful boy you did and you would have – you had already accomplished so much and you had amazing adventures ahead of you. Instead of thinking “but mom I haven’t done anything yet” I thought of what you had accomplished – I thought of how proud you were to be a soldier – I thought about how much you loved the military and soldiers – I thought about how much you loved your country – I thought about what a good person you were and how you wanted to help people so I walked tall and proud for you my Amazing Aaron Alexander and I will continue to do so. I love you with all my heart always and forever no matter what ❤️🦊
